After speaking with residents all across Wisconsin, I have heard loud and clear their concerns that our state is going in the wrong direction. I couldn't agree more. I was disappointed, but not surprised, to hear more of the same rhetoric from Governor Doyle tonight that has led us to the mess we are in.
Wisconsin's families need strong action taken immediately to give small businesses the tools they need to create good paying jobs in our state. Right now, our state is ranked 3rd worst among states to run a business. This must be changed if we want to see economic recovery.
Along with my Assembly Republican colleagues, over the past few months I have been pushing for the Governor and Legislature to consider and pass a handful of job-creating policies. These bills focus on providing immediate solutions to our economic problems by reducing the tax burden, cutting through red tape regulations, and improving our litigation environment here in Wisconsin.
Unfortunately, with Democrats in control of state government, our ideas have fallen on deaf ears.
Clearly, we need to put Wisconsin on a different track. Just like families and businesses have done, we can rebuild our state stronger than ever through leadership, a positive vision, and a willingness to make tough decisions, by putting our people and not government first.
